Flynn Cogut Institute Speaker Series Nomination

Funding Opportunity

The Greg and Julie Flynn Cogut Institute Speaker Series creates opportunities for Brown University undergraduate students to learn from and engage with high-profile guests in the humanities or humanistically-oriented social sciences. Each campus visit includes a public lecture and a separate seminar-style meeting with undergraduate students.

Nomination Guidelines

Brown University undergraduate students and faculty can submit speaker nominations for future academic years. We are especially interested in visitors who are known beyond academe (high profile writers, journalists, and public intellectuals, for example). Faculty can nominate speakers whose visit would complement an undergraduate course; however, a course tie-in is not required in order to submit a nomination. A list of upcoming and previous speakers can be found on the Greg and Julie Flynn Cogut Institute Speaker Series page.

Nominations may be made throughout the year. Nominations submitted before or on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 will be reviewed this spring by faculty and students affiliated with the Cogut Institute for the Humanities. Please keep in mind that it may take up to one or two years to schedule the visit of selected speakers, particularly for visitors known beyond academe.
