Cogut Institute for the Humanities

Reservable Spaces in Andrews House

Space in Andrews House is available for use by all Brown University units. The spaces in Andrews House are easily configured for a number of possible events, including lectures, readings, panels, conferences, and seminars.

In general, we are unable to accommodate requests for recurring meetings in our event spaces. With the exception of Honors thesis presentations, we are also unable to accommodate regular departmental business or functions. Student organizations are not eligible to reserve space in Andrews House. Rooms 006, 211, and 310 may be available for semester-long course reservations once the semester has started.

To schedule a tour, contact Institute Manager Ben Safran at benjamin_safran1@brown.edu or humanities-institute@brown.edu

The White Family Salon (Room 110), Room 106, and Gallery (Event Space)

The White Family Salon (room 110), room 106, and the gallery are contiguous spaces that function as one modular event space and are booked jointly. All these spaces are flexible and can serve multiple purposes. The main event space, salon, has two possible orientations for lectures with a maximum seated capacity of 68 (facing south) to 84 (facing west). Sample layout options are available to facilitate event planning.

Funding

For events hosted by academic units in the humanities and humanistic social sciences, funding may be available to offset costs to expand the accessibility or reach of an event (such as recording, live captioning, or live-streaming), or facilities costs for events in the White Family Salon (room 110). You can apply by filling out this brief form. Due to limited resources, we are unable to accept funding requests for non-humanities events or events not hosted by academic units at Brown. Requests are reviewed on a rolling basis until funding runs out but should be submitted a minimum of 3 weeks prior to your event.
